Am I Intuitive or Am I Just Overthinking?

If you've ever asked yourself:
"Was that intuition?"
"Or am I making things up?"
You're not alone.
In fact, it's one of the most common questions I hear from people beginning to trust themselves again.
Most people aren't struggling because they have no intuition.
They're struggling because they have too many voices competing for attention.
Fear.
Logic.
Past experiences.
Other people's opinions.
And somewhere underneath it all...
Their own inner knowing.
The challenge isn't that intuition isn't speaking.
The challenge is learning how to recognize its voice.
What Overthinking Feels Like
Overthinking tends to be loud.
It asks the same question over and over.
It looks for certainty.
It tries to predict every possible outcome.
It often sounds like:
What if I'm wrong?
What if something bad happens?
What if they don't like me?
What if I make the wrong decision?
It creates more thinking.
The mind keeps circling, hoping one more thought will finally bring peace.
But peace rarely comes through over-analysis.
What Intuition Feels Like
Intuition is often much quieter.
It doesn't usually arrive as a long explanation.
It often feels like:
A knowing
A nudge
A feeling in your body
A sudden clarity
A calm inner truth
Intuition rarely argues.
It simply presents information.
You may not always like what it says.
But it often feels surprisingly peaceful.
Even when it's asking you to make a difficult choice.
Intuition Usually Arrives First
One thing I've noticed over the years is that intuition often arrives before the mind starts debating.
A simple feeling.
A knowing.
A first impression.
Then the mind jumps in.
It questions.
Analyzes.
Doubts.
Creates stories.
The original intuitive message is often very simple.
The confusion tends to arrive afterward.
Fear Is Different
Fear isn't the enemy.
Fear exists to protect us.
But fear and intuition feel very different.
Fear feels urgent.
Intuition feels steady.
Fear pushes.
Intuition guides.
Fear often focuses on worst-case scenarios.
Intuition focuses on truth.
The more we learn to regulate our nervous system, the easier it becomes to tell the difference.
Why Sensitive People Often Doubt Themselves
Many highly intuitive people spent years being told:
You're imagining things.
You're too sensitive.
You're overreacting.
You're reading too much into it.
Eventually they stop trusting their own experiences.
They begin looking outside themselves for confirmation.
But intuition grows stronger when we learn to trust what we already know.
Not blindly.
Not without discernment.
But with curiosity and self-respect.
Intuition Is a Relationship
Many people think intuition is something you're born with or without.
I see it differently.
Intuition is a relationship.
The more you listen, the clearer it becomes.
The more you dismiss it, the quieter it gets.
Like any relationship, trust develops over time.
One experience.
One decision.
One moment of listening at a time.
Why USMR Places Such Importance on Self-Trust
One of the foundational principles of Universal Soul Matrix Reiki (USMR) is sovereignty.
I don't believe healing should create dependency.
I believe healing should help people trust themselves more deeply.
USMR is designed to strengthen the connection between a person and their own inner wisdom.
Not by giving answers.
But by helping people recognize the answers already within them.
The next time you're faced with a decision, pause.
Take a breath.
Ask yourself:
"If fear wasn't speaking, what would I know?"
Then listen.
Not to the loudest voice.
To the calmest one.
You may be surprised by what you've known all along.
🤍
Universal Soul Matrix Reiki (USMR) is a heart-centered energy healing system that supports intuitive development, personal sovereignty, emotional healing, and spiritual growth.
Whether you're new to energy work or exploring your own intuitive gifts, USMR offers a grounded path to deeper self-trust and awareness.
Come as you are. Leave a little lighter. 🤍
