The Moment I Realized Healing Wasn't About Fixing Myself

How I Stopped Chasing What's Wrong and Started Listening to What Needed Care

For a long time, I thought healing meant finding everything that was wrong with me and fixing it.

If I could just heal the wound.

Clear the pattern.

Release the fear.

Learn the lesson.

Then maybe I would finally feel whole.

What I didn't realize was that I was approaching healing the same way many of us approach life:

As another problem to solve.

Another thing to perfect.

Another destination to reach.

And it was exhausting.

Healing Isn't Proof You're Broken

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that needing support meant something was wrong.

That if we were struggling, overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or stuck, we needed to figure out how to fix ourselves.

But healing isn't evidence that you're broken.

Healing is what happens when you begin paying attention.

Noticing.

Listening.

Responding to yourself with compassion instead of criticism.

The goal isn't perfection.

The goal is connection.

The Body Already Knows

The nervous system speaks constantly.

Through exhaustion.

Through tension.

Through overwhelm.

Through intuition.

Through the quiet feeling that something needs attention.

Most of us weren't taught how to listen.

We were taught how to push through.

Ignore it.

Stay busy.

Keep going.

Until eventually the body speaks louder.

What Changed For Me

The biggest shift wasn't learning another technique.

It wasn't finding another answer.

It was realizing that healing wasn't about becoming someone different.

It was about becoming more fully myself.

Less performing.

Less proving.

Less carrying.

More listening.

More trusting.

More allowing.

More remembering.

Sometimes Healing Looks Like...

• Taking a nap

• Setting a boundary

• Saying no

• Asking for help

• Sitting quietly in nature

• Letting yourself cry

• Receiving support

• Trusting your intuition

• Giving yourself permission to be human

Healing isn't always dramatic.

Often it's found in the small moments.

The moments where we stop abandoning ourselves.

The Truth About Wholeness

You do not become worthy once you're healed.

You do not become lovable once you've worked through every wound.

You do not become enough once you've fixed every part of yourself.

You are already enough.

Healing simply helps you remember.

A Final Thought

What if you don't need fixing?

What if your exhaustion is asking for rest?

What if your anxiety is asking for safety?

What if your overwhelm is asking for support?

What if your intuition has been trying to guide you home all along?

Maybe healing isn't about becoming someone new.

Maybe it's about remembering who you've always been.

Come as you are. Leave a little lighter. 🤍
