The Training and Experience Behind My Work at Ki’smet Co
By Kiernan Garvie
When you choose someone to support your well-being, it helps to know who they are, what they have studied, and what experience they bring into the room.
I’m Kiernan Garvie, founder of Ki’smet Co in Saskatoon and creator of Universal Soul Matrix Reiki. My work brings together Reiki, reflexology, intuitive guidance, meditation, and practices that support relaxation and nervous system awareness. Behind that work is a combination of formal training, practical client experience, and a commitment to listening to the person in front of me.
My training in Reiki and reflexology
I am a Reiki Master and Teacher. My Usui/Holy Fire II Reiki Ryoho Master certificate was awarded on June 13, 2016, by Candace Hawkshaw. It recognizes completion of Advanced Reiki Training and the Master level, including the foundational requirements to teach all levels of that system as an independent Reiki Master.
Reiki is part of the foundation of my practice. I offer it as a complementary wellness practice, with space for rest, reflection, and personal spiritual experience. People do not need to share my beliefs or have a particular experience for their time with me to be worthwhile.
My reflexology certificate was awarded through Scents of Direction on August 7, 2019. It recognizes competence demonstrated through examinations and practical work, covering reflexology of the feet, hands, and ears. Reflexology brings a hands-on element to my practice, with focused pressure techniques and time to settle into receiving care.
My additional training has included Access Bars®, cupping massage, facial therapies, and oracle reading. Meditation and intuitive guidance are also part of the work I facilitate. These different approaches give me options to discuss with clients, rather than assuming everyone needs the same session.
Creating Universal Soul Matrix Reiki
I am the creator of Universal Soul Matrix Reiki, or USMR, and have developed its learning materials and teaching pathway.
Personal sovereignty is central to how I teach. I want students to ask questions, practise discernment, and develop trust in their own experience. Learning should make room for curiosity and individual understanding.
In my teaching, intuition is something to explore with care. An impression can be offered for reflection without being treated as a fact about another person. The person receiving support remains the authority on what feels meaningful to them.
Building Ki’smet Co
I founded Ki’smet Co in January 2017. Alongside my individual practice, I coordinate workshops, circles, and learning experiences that create opportunities for connection and reflection.
Ki’smet Co is also a space for independent practitioners and artisans. Each practitioner operates their own business and brings their own qualifications, responsibilities, and approach. The background I am sharing here is my own.
Building this space has given me experience in facilitating groups, developing classes, and supporting the practical details that help people feel welcome when they arrive.
How my background shapes a session
I describe my work as intuitive nervous system support because I pay attention to how people experience stress, rest, and connection with themselves.
In a session, that might mean discussing what you need that day, choosing an approach together, and checking in about your comfort. There is room to ask questions, change your mind, or choose quiet over conversation.
You do not need to know the names of the modalities before you come. You can begin by telling me what brought you in and what you hope to make space for.
My role is to offer complementary wellness support within my training and experience. Medical assessment, diagnosis, and mental health treatment belong with appropriately qualified healthcare professionals. My work can sit alongside that care.
What matters to me
My qualifications give you information about my training. How I listen, communicate, and respect your choices matters just as much.
I want the people who come to me to feel welcome as they are. You can be curious about spirituality, familiar with energy work, or simply looking for time to rest. There is no requirement to perform, share more than you want to, or have a dramatic experience.
The intention behind my work remains the same: helping people come home to themselves.
