What to Expect During Your First Visit
If you've been curious about somatic healing, you're not alone.
It's one of the questions I'm asked most often.
"What actually happens?"
"Do I have to talk about my past?"
"Will you make me relive trauma?"
"What if I don't know what's wrong?"
These are honest questions, and they deserve honest answers.
The first thing I want you to know is this:
You don't have to arrive with the right words.
You don't have to have everything figured out.
You simply come as you are.
If you're wondering how Reiki fits into this grounded approach, Grounded Reiki & Energy Healing in Saskatoon explains the philosophy behind the work I offer.
What Is Somatic Healing?
Somatic healing is an approach that recognizes the connection between your mind, body, emotions, and nervous system.
Our bodies experience life alongside us.
Stress.
Joy.
Loss.
Overwhelm.
Connection.
While we may understand these experiences mentally, our bodies often continue carrying the physical effects long after the moment has passed.
Somatic healing gently helps you reconnect with your body, your awareness, and your nervous system.
It isn't about forcing change.
It's about creating the conditions where change becomes possible.
If you're new to this style of healing, Grounded Reiki & Energy Healing in Saskatoon explains more about the gentle, grounded philosophy I bring into every session.
Every Session Is Different
One of the beautiful things about this work is that no two sessions are ever exactly the same.
Some people need silence.
Some need conversation.
Some need reassurance.
Some simply need permission to stop holding everything together for an hour.
We work with what your body is ready for—not what anyone else thinks should happen.
There is no pressure to "perform healing."
If you've been carrying stress for so long that it feels like part of your personality, Why People Feel Stuck — Even When They're Trying So Hard explores how survival mode can quietly shape our lives without us realizing it.
You Don't Have to Tell Me
Everything
This surprises many people.
You are always in control of what you choose to share.
Sometimes people talk.
Sometimes they don't.
Sometimes the body communicates more than words ever could.
Healing isn't about forcing memories to surface.
It's about helping your nervous system experience safety in the present moment.
If you've ever felt like you needed someone to fix you before you could heal, I invite you to read Most People Don't Need to Be Fixed — They Need a Safe Place to Exhale.
That philosophy shapes every session I offer.
What Might You Experience?
Everyone experiences somatic healing differently.
You may notice:
deeper breathing
warmth or heaviness
muscles softening
emotional release
unexpected calm
clarity
feeling more present
feeling lighter
Some people leave energized.
Others feel deeply relaxed.
Some simply notice they aren't carrying the same level of tension they arrived with.
There is no "right" experience.
Many people come to me believing they need to be fixed before they can heal. I see it differently, and I share why in Most People Don't Need to Be Fixed — They Need a Safe Place to Exhale.
Why People Book Somatic Healing
Many people come because they're tired of living in survival mode.
They tell me they feel:
overwhelmed
emotionally exhausted
disconnected
stuck
tense
constantly "on"
Sometimes they can't explain why.
They just know something doesn't feel like themselves anymore.
If that sounds familiar, Why People Feel Stuck — Even When They're Trying So Hard may resonate with you.
A Session Isn't About Fixing You
One of the biggest misconceptions about healing is that something is wrong with you.
I don't believe that.
I believe many people have simply spent too long carrying more than their nervous systems were ever designed to carry.
Healing isn't becoming someone new.
It's remembering who you are underneath the stress.
That perspective is also at the heart of Grounding Spirituality: Returning to Yourself Without Escaping Reality.
Healing doesn't ask you to leave yourself behind.
It gently invites you back.
My Hope for Every Person Who Walks Through My Door
I don't hope people leave believing I have all the answers.
I hope they leave believing they already have wisdom within themselves.
My role is simply to help create a space where that wisdom has room to breathe.
Sometimes the greatest shift isn't dramatic.
Sometimes it's simply realizing...
"I feel like myself again."
And that's enough.
You don't have to know exactly what you need before you reach out.
You simply have to be willing to begin.
I'd be honored to walk beside you.
