Why People Feel Stuck — Even When They’re Trying So Hard

By Kiernan Garvie — Ki’smet Co

Here’s the uncomfortable truth most people don’t want to hear:

A lot of people are not actually stuck.

They’re exhausted.

Emotionally overloaded. Nervous systems fried. Disconnected from themselves. Trying to make huge life changes from a body that hasn’t fully relaxed in years.

And then they shame themselves for “not moving forward fast enough.”

I see this constantly through my work at Ki’smet Co in Saskatoon.

People saying:

“Why can’t I just move on?” “Why do I feel blocked?” “Why do I keep repeating the same patterns?” “Why do I feel frozen?”

But underneath that?

Most are carrying survival mode disguised as “normal life.”

You Cannot Build a Peaceful Life from Constant Internal Chaos

This is where I’m going to get a little spicy.

People are trying to manifest peace while:

  • overworking themselves

  • abandoning their own needs

  • staying in emotionally draining situations

  • people pleasing

  • chronically overstimulated

  • disconnected from their bodies

  • emotionally suppressing everything

And then wondering why they feel stuck.

Your nervous system matters.

Your body matters.

Your emotional state matters.

You cannot constantly override yourself and expect clarity to magically appear.

Sometimes “Stuck” Is Actually Protection

This is something I wish more people understood.

Sometimes the body pauses because it no longer feels safe continuing the way things have been.

That can look like:

  • procrastination

  • burnout

  • emotional shutdown

  • lack of motivation

  • brain fog

  • anxiety

  • exhaustion

  • inability to make decisions

  • feeling frozen

Not because you’re lazy.

But because your nervous system has been carrying too much for too long.

The body will always choose protection before expansion.

Always.

People Are Addicted to Survival Without Realizing It

And honestly?

Some people have been in survival mode so long that calm feels uncomfortable.

Stillness feels unsafe. Rest feels lazy. Receiving support feels unfamiliar.

So they stay busy. Overthinking. Over giving. Overcarrying.

Because if they stop moving, they might actually feel everything they’ve been avoiding.

That’s the part nobody talks about enough.

Healing Is Not About Becoming Someone Else

At Ki’smet Co, I don’t believe people need to become “better versions” of themselves to heal.

I think most people need:

  • nervous system support

  • emotional safety

  • grounded healing

  • clarity

  • rest

  • reconnection with themselves

Not more pressure.

Not another self-help checklist.

Not another person telling them to “just think positive.”

Sometimes healing begins by finally admitting:

“I’m tired.”

And allowing that truth to matter.

Why Reiki & Nervous System Support Can Help

Grounded Reiki and energy healing can help people soften out of chronic survival

patterns by creating space for:

  • emotional release

  • nervous system regulation

  • mental clarity

  • energetic balance

  • reconnection with self

  • calm

Not because Reiki “fixes” people.

But because support changes people.

Being able to exhale changes people.

Feeling safe changes people.

You’re Probably Not Broken

You might just be carrying too much.

And maybe your body is asking for something deeper than productivity right now.

Maybe it’s asking for:

  • rest

  • support

  • emotional honesty

  • grounding

  • space to breathe again

That isn’t weakness.

That’s awareness.

And honestly? That awareness might be the first real step forward.
