Most People Don’t Need to Be Fixed — They Need a Safe Place to Exhale

One of the biggest things I’ve learned through this work is that most people are not broken.
They’re overwhelmed.
And honestly, I think that changes everything.
Over the years, I’ve sat with so many people in Saskatoon carrying invisible weight that nobody else sees.
People who are:
holding families together
managing stress silently
overthinking constantly
emotionally exhausted
staying strong for everyone else
functioning while completely overwhelmed inside
And most of them don’t come into sessions asking to be “fixed.”
They come in wanting relief.
A moment to breathe. A moment to soften. A moment where their nervous system can finally stop bracing against life for a little while.
That matters more than people realize.
I Think We’ve Normalized Survival Mode
Somewhere along the way, being constantly stressed became normal.
Always pushing. Always carrying. Always thinking. Always staying “on.”
And eventually people stop noticing how disconnected from themselves they’ve become because survival mode starts feeling familiar.
But the body still knows.
The nervous system still knows.
I see it all the time in sessions:
tension people didn’t realize they were carrying
emotions they haven’t had space to process
exhaustion hidden underneath productivity
nervous systems that haven’t fully relaxed in years
Sometimes the deepest healing starts with something incredibly simple:
Feeling safe enough to finally let go for a moment.
This Is Why I Created Ki’smet Co Differently
When I created Ki’smet Co, I knew I didn’t want it to feel performative or intimidating.
I wanted it to feel:
grounded
calming
emotionally safe
supportive
human
A space where people could show up exactly as they are.
Not needing to impress anyone. Not needing to “heal perfectly. ”Not needing to pretend they’re okay when they’re exhausted.
Just real support.
Because healing doesn’t always look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like:
breathing deeper for the first time in weeks
feeling emotionally lighter
finally crying after holding everything in
feeling calm again
reconnecting with yourself
remembering who you are underneath the overwhelm
Reiki Became About More Than Energy for Me
The longer I’ve done this work, the more I’ve realized Reiki and healing are deeply connected to the nervous system.
People cannot fully soften when their bodies still feel unsafe.
That’s why my approach became less about “fixing energy” and more about creating enough safety for the body and mind to reconnect with themselves again.
Grounded Reiki. Nervous system support. Emotional release. Calm. Clarity.
Not fear.
Not dependency.
Support.
That’s the heart of my work.
I Think People Are Craving Something More Real Now
I think people are tired.
Tired of pressure. Tired of pretending. Tired of carrying everything alone.
And I think more people are beginning to realize that healing is not weakness.
Support is not weakness.
Rest is not weakness.
Being human is not weakness.
At Ki’smet Co in Saskatoon, my goal has never been to convince people they are broken.
It’s to help them remember they deserve support too.
Because you do.
